Chamberlain was the sole child of divorced parents. In a 2018 interview in Forbes, Chamberlain said that even though she was born in the generally well-off city of San Francisco, her family struggled financially during her childhood. Chamberlain said that her family was dependent on the skills of her father and that they had to go through "hard times" after he was diagnosed with illness. The school she attended was Central Middle School in San Carlos, California, and Notre Dame High School, Belmont, a girls-only Catholic preparatory school where she was on the cheerleading and track teams. She was a member and cheerleader of the California All Stars Pink cheerleading team.
